Round Brilliant : The round brilliant is the modern version of the round which has been refined for maximum shine. The most traditional and popular of all diamond shapes, it has the best angles for which to shine maximum brilliance and fire. Rounds make up the vast majority of diamonds found in engagement rings, and are also popular as stud earrings and pendants.

Marquise : The marquise diamond is the diamond of choice for royalty. Like the emerald, the marquise is a traditional shape. This is probably the fourth most popular shape behind the round, princess and oval. Women who want to create an illusion of longer, narrower fingers often choose the marquise.

Oval : The oval diamond, considered very classical and elegant, has the brilliance of a round diamond. Not as popular for solitaires, but very popular for three stone anniversary rings, with two matching diamonds on the sides.

Radiant : The radiant cut combines the elegance of the emerald cut diamond with the brilliance of the round diamond. Popular before the princess shape was around, the radiant has more facets than a princess, but has the corners trimmed like the emerald shape.

Princess : The princess cut diamond is a square cut diamond with sharp edges with overall brilliance and fire – almost near round brilliant. The princess is the preferred square cut shape over radiant.

Emerald : A more traditional, sleek shape, the emerald is not as popular as it once was, but has an old world elegance to it. The emerald cut is rectangular with tapered corners – also known as a step cut diamond.

Cushion : Modern day cushion brilliant cut diamonds are square or squarish-rectangular shapes with curved sides and either rounded or pointed corners.

Pear : This teardrop shaped cut has a rounded end and a single point. Mostly used in pendants, earrings and solitaire engagement rings. The pear shape diamond, “Teardrop of the Gods”, is an exquisite diamond with good proportions to refract light well.
